Helping customers build the best- run server infrastructure, HP announces several key additions and upgrades to its Unified Infrastructure Management and HP BladeSystem portfolio. Today, HP delivers total remote control without compromise for routine and emergency situations. With HP ProLiant Essentials Integrated Lights-Out 2 (iLO 2) v1.30, customers can take advantage of shared remote consoling, to share their iLO 2 among up to four users resulting in greater IT efficiency and system availability. Customers can also copy files “on the fly” from their client file systems to remote servers with Virtual Folders. Finally, customers can preview use of the new DMTF industry standard, WS Management, to remotely control system power and unit identification LED’s from HP SIM and other WS Management compliant applications.

HP continues to enable customers to build an energy efficient infrastructure with HP BladeSystem and new power management and power capping features. HP Insight Power Manager v1.10 monitors shared power elements within the BladeSystem c-Class enclosure such as fans, switches and LCD displays so customers have a complete view of their HP BladeSystem’s power consumption and air temperature. These features manage data center thermal requirements to a specific value that is right for their data center.

Further delivering on the vision to “blade everything from desktop to datacenter,” HP announces a new versatile data protection and disaster recovery solution. The HP StorageWorks Ultrium 448c Tape Blade is the first direct attach tape blade for the HP BladeSystem c-Class providing networking backup capabilities for all data in the enclosure or back-up for a single server blade. HP is also committed to innovative components that enable customers to design their HP BladeSystem to meet business needs. HP introduces an Ethernet switch offering the highest available switch performance at an attractive price. The HP 1:10 Gb Ethernet BL-c Switch dramatically reduces cabling, power and cooling requirements, compared to stand-alone switches, while providing over 34Gb of uplink bandwidth to handle the most demanding applications such as Voice Over IP (VoIP) or Video on Demand (VOD).

With this announcement, HP announces innovative services specifically designed to help HP BladeSystem customers effectively manage and utilize their blade technology and tools. The HP Proactive BladeSystem Service is a new proactive service that offers customers a personalized experience via an individual HP Support representative, proactive onsite assistance and technical consulting to help customers experience the cost-effective performance they expect from their HP BladeSystem infrastructure. It offers standard and flexible features that enable customers to design the service to meet their needs.

HP Services also introduces a range of new implementation and support services to support products in this announcement providing customers with faster investment returns and better business outcomes.

HP ProLiant Essentials Integrated Lights-Out 2 (iLO 2) v1.30 extends customer’s abilities to have total remote control, without compromise, over their HP ProLiant Servers and HP BladeSystem Server Blades. Some of the new features included in version 1.3 are shared remote console, console replay, virtual folder, DMTF WS Management support, automatic login from HP Systems Insight Manager, power capping settings, strong AES encryption and Active Directory nested groups support.

HP Insight Power Manager (IPM) v1.10 features HP BladeSystem c-Class enclosure monitoring and power regulation which gives customers a complete view of HP BladeSystem power consumption and air temperature. It also enables customers to reduce data center thermal requirements by limiting the power consumption to a specific value. There is no additional licensing required for enclosure level power and thermal reporting.

HP Server Management Packs v1.0 for Microsoft System Center Operations Manager 2007 supports Microsoft’s System Definition Model (SDM) for even simpler HP Server visibility, discovery and management. These HP Server Management Packs support servers running the ProLiant Server Pack 7.5 or greater and Integrity Server Pack 4.6 or greater.

HP SmartStart v7.80 now offers support for newly released server options and Red Hat Enterprise Linux 5. Version 7.80 also includes support for Microsoft Server 2003 R2 Data Center Edition on selected ProLiant servers.

HP SmartStart Scripting Toolkit v1.70
The HP SmartStart Scripting Toolkit v1.70 now supports Red Hat Enterprise Linux 5 and it also includes support for Windows Server 2003 R2 Data Center Edition on selected ProLiant servers.

The Integrated Lights-Out (iLO) Advanced Pack now supports remote Windows OS kernel debugger, active directory nested groups, and virtual DVD. Also, iLO v1.91 introduces iLO Select Pack support on iLO management processors. The iLO Select Pack enables virtual media and enterprise security on servers that are managed using standard text console interfaces.

The HP StorageWorks Ultrium 448c Tape Blade is the first direct attach tape blade for HP BladeSystem c-Class. It provides direct attach data protection for the adjacent server and network backup protection for all other server and storage blades within the enclosure. The HP Ultrium 448c Tape Blade is the ideal data protection solution for BladeSystem c-Class customers who are not connected into a Storage Area Network (SAN).

The HP Proactive BladeSystem Service is a new proactive service designed to help HP BladeSystem customers more effectively manage and utilize blade technology and tools. The HP Proactive BladeSystem Service provides personalized technical consulting and expert recommendations delivered by an assigned HP Account Support Manager, to help customers experience the cost-effective performance and business outcomes they expect from their HP BladeSystem infrastructure.

The HP 1:10 Gb Ethernet BL-c Switch is HP’s first Ethernet switch with 10Gb uplinks. It’s perfect for high bandwidth applications, data centers looking for cable consolidation or beginning the transition to 10Gb. Three 10Gb uplinks and four 1Gb uplinks provide over 34Gb of uplink bandwidth to handle the most demanding applications.

The new HP 8.6 kVA and 11 kVA Modular Power Distribution Units (PDUs) offer HP BladeSystem customers an inexpensive power solution which operates within the p-Class and c-Class enclosures. Customers can now connect all power sources into a single PDU easing cable management and deployment.

HP 1/10Gb Virtual Connect Ethernet Module for c-Class BladeSystem
The HP Virtual Connect Ethernet Module now offers HP CX-4 Ethernet cables, available in .5m, 1m, and 15m lengths. These cables can be connected to core switches or used to stack Virtual Connect modules.

The HP ProLiant DL585 G2 server now offers support for Dual-Core AMD Opteron processor Model 8222SE 3.0GHz with 2MB L2 cache, 120 Watts, offering the highest performance processor to DL585 G2 customers.

The HP ProLiant HPC Partner Software Suite introduces an additional PGI Compiler Support Agreement and the support for Red Hat Enterprise Linux 5 HPC 8Packs and Individual License Kits for one and three year subscription support.
